The background
Eye drops, cough syrup, scar gel, pain oil - WALA's high-quality anthroposophic natural remedies and cosmetic products, manufactured in Bad Boll at the foot of the Swabian Alb, are exported to over 40 countries worldwide. The high-quality preparations are stored in the ultra-modern distribution and logistics centre, which was completed in 2020, and are assembled for shipment at home and abroad. WALA is constantly pursuing technical innovations to ensure that its customers are supplied quickly and with the best possible quality. This is why the company decided to migrate to SAP S/4HANA, which included a release upgrade from SAP EWM to the new system.
The challenge
During implementation, project partner CPRO conlog encountered a very complex environment, as highly automated logistics solutions support WALA in achieving the target of 600,000 parcels per year. The migration was carried out according to the SAP migration path, combined with a customer-specific concept for the customised solution portfolio. "Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The WALA employees were able to continue their work immediately after the changeover without interruption," explains Robert Schmeling, Managing Director and Project Manager at CPRO conlog.
The project's success
The release upgrade from SAP EWM to SAP S/4HANA ensured maximum goods throughput and the highest possible warehouse capacity utilisation. SAP ERP, including the customised solutions for WALA's specific requirements, particularly in SAP QM, were also adapted and upgraded to SAP S/4HANA capability. "We now have a stable system on the future-oriented basis of SAP S/4HANA and can take further steps," says Ralf Ludwig, Project Manager at WALA. "With CPRO conlog, we had a professional and flexible project partner at our side."
